At NMITE, we’re proud to be shaping the next generation of career ready engineers by preparing them for real world challenges. One of NMITE’s graduates, Fin Neate, recently wrote a piece for local news provider, Tupsley Voice, sharing her journey through NMITE and reflecting on how NMITE has shaped her career and aspirations.
Fin has been a lifelong resident, growing up on the Tupsley Estate based centrally in Hereford from the age of 9. Motivated by a community that encourages critical thinking about the environment and industry, Fin decided to take on these challenges by becoming an engineer.
“Growing up with access to both city and countryside created a love for green spaces and an appreciation for the coexistence of nature and industry”.
In 2021, Fin joined NMITE’s inaugural cohort to retrain as an engineer which was “the best decision of my life so far”. Fin regards her time at NMITE as “an intensive and challenging experience, teaching me to work with diverse perspectives”. However, it all paid off. After completing her Master's project in August, Fin started work as a Graduate Engineer at Mondelez International, where she now contributes to sustainability initiatives for brands like Cadbury, Toblerone, and Oreo.
“I am excited to help a major company achieve its sustainability goals, using skills gained through NMITE’s real-world projects and partnerships”
NMITE's hands-on projects and partnerships equipped Fin with practical skills that go beyond theoretical knowledge, making a meaningful impact in her current role. Fin has expresses immense pride in being part of NMITE’s journey, committed to supporting its mission even as she transitions into the professional world.
“I’ll always be honoured to call myself an NMITE graduate.”
