NMITE takes its responsibilities for safeguarding the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and staff very seriously, and we believe it is everybody’s responsibility to help keep all community members safe.
At induction and throughout your time at NMITE you will receive detailed advice on personal safety, healthy relationships, and how to report or seek support for any concerns about your own safety and wellbeing or that of your peers. Our policies and procedures are in line with national higher education guidance, as well as that provided by our community of Hereford, and our experienced Safeguarding Team are always on hand to support you.
NMITE also recognises its responsibility and duties under the Government’s Prevent Strategy to be aware of and, where appropriate, act to ensure the safety of all students from radicalisation and extremism.
To promote, implement and monitor NMITE’s responsibilities under the Prevent duty to all students, staff and stakeholders we have undertaken a risk assessment and set a strategy to achieve our obligations.
Through shared principles, values and behaviours, we are very serious about promoting an ethos of tolerance and inclusion and a culture that does not tolerate bullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind. In partnership, we provide support, advice and guidance for students who may be at risk and ensure that students and staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in preventing extremism and radicalisation.
