We have put together the following information to help you obtain the right permission to study in the UK.
Supporting you
As an international student you’ll receive support from our dedicated teams before you arrive, as well as while you’re here. Simply contact the relevant team to get your questions answered about preparing for and studying at NMITE.
If you are an international student and you want to study a course at NMITE, you will likely need to apply for a student visa through the Student Route. If you are already living in the UK on a different type of visa, you should indicate this on your application.
Before you start your visa application you will need the following documents:
- Current passport or other valid travel documentation.
- Certificate of Acceptance of Studies or CAS (we will issue this once you have accepted an unconditional offer and paid your deposit).
Here is a step-by-step guide of the student visa application process.
Step One – Accept an Unconditional Offer
You will need to have received and accepted an unconditional offer from us before you can begin your visa application. If there are any conditions still outstanding on your application, they will need to be met before you can receive your unconditional offer.
Step Two – Pay your Deposit
We require a deposit payment of £3,000 before a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can be issued. The deposit will be deducted from your annual tuition fees and will only be refunded in if you are able to obtain a visa. Please refer to our Tuition Fees Policy for more details.
Step Three – Receive your CAS
Once we have received your deposit, we will issue you with a CAS. Once received, check all the details are correct as soon as you can. If anything is incorrect, please email admissions@nmite.ac.uk.
The CAS will be provided no earlier than six months before the start of your course.
Step Four - Begin your visa application
Once you have your CAS, you can begin your visa application.
If you are applying from outside the UK, you can apply up to six months before your course starts. If you are applying from inside the UK, you can apply up to three months before your course starts.
When you apply for a student visa, you will need to be able to provide evidence that you have enough money to:
- Pay for your course (for 1 academic year up to 9 months) and
- Support yourself financially in the UK (£1,136 per month for up to 9 months)
Visit the gov.uk website for guidance on providing evidence.
You must have this money for at least 28 consecutive days. The end date of the 28-day period must be within 31 days of the date you apply for your visa.
If you are sponsored by a government or scholarship agency you will need to provide a sponsor letter in your visa application.
You do not need to prove the financial requirement if you’ve had a UK visa for 12 months prior to the date of your Student visa application or you’re a British national overseas or you are from one of the countries listed on the gov.uk website.
You may also be required to provide one or more of the following:
- ATAS Certificate (if joining an integrated master’s programme and your nationality requires it).
- Tuberculosis (TB) test results (if you’ve lived in any of countries listed on the gov.uk website for 6 months or more).
If your application includes any documents which are not in English, you must also include a translation of each document.
