Overview

You can apply for as many scholarships and bursaries as you like, but you can only be in receipt of one at a time unless specified otherwise. If you are successful for multiple scholarships and bursaries, you can choose which one you would like to accept. Bursaries and scholarships cannot be deferred. 

Our scholarships and bursaries are payable only to registered students at NMITE.

Build the Future Bursary

Overview

The Build the Future Bursary provides a total cash award of £3,000, distributed in three equal instalments of £1,000 at key progression points throughout the BSc (Hons) Construction Management degree at NMITE. This bursary is designed to recognise and support talented, motivated students who demonstrate strong academic progress and a clear commitment to completing the full three-year programme. Each instalment is awarded upon the successful completion of each academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • be joining as a new NMITE student in September 2026 on BSc Construction Management
  • have accepted your formal offer to study
  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK.

Application and selection process 

  1. Make a direct entry application to study at NMITE.
  2. You’ll be notified if your application to study at NMITE is successful and made a formal offer of a place in the September 2026 intake.
  3. To apply for the Build the Future Bursary, you must formally accept your offer.
  4. Please email your expression of eligibility and provide evidence of UK residency to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by Friday 6th February 2026
  5. Your eligibility will be reviewed to our Financial Awards Committee who will make a decision based on the information supplied.
  6. You’ll be notified of the decision within 10 working days of your application.
  7. You must have formally enrolled on to your programme at NMITE to receive the funds following an award of the funding.

If you choose to accept the funding, you will be asked to sign a Financial Award Agreement and agree to the general Financial Awards Terms and Conditions.

Octopus Energy Bursary (female only)

Overview

The Octopus Energy Bursary provides a total cash award of £5,000, distributed in four equal instalments of £1,250 at key progression points throughout your undergraduate degree programme at NMITE. This bursary is designed to recognise and support talented, motivated students who demonstrate strong academic progress and a clear commitment to completing the full three-year programme. The first instalment is paid two weeks after the start of your programme including full attendance at welcome activities; the following instalments are awarded upon the successful completion of each level of study.

This generous cash bursary supports women pursuing a degree in Engineering or Construction Management at NMITE. The aim is to provide more opportunities for women in engineering education – helping to address the current underrepresentation in the field. This scholarship is open to all UK-based and international females.

To be considered for the Octopus Solutions Foundation Scholarship, applicants must: 

  • Be a Woman
  • Be joining as a new NMITE student in September 2026 on an undergraduate degree programme
  • Have accepted your formal offer to study
  • Note, students studying the NMITE Foundation Year are not eligible 

Application and selection process 

  1. Make a direct entry or UCAS application to study at NMITE.
  2. You’ll be notified if your application to study at NMITE is successful and made a formal offer of a place in the September 2026 intake.
  3. To apply for the Octopus Energy Bursary, you must formally accept your offer.
  4. You can apply by submitting a short statement (500 words or less) about how the Octopus Energy Bursary will enable you to make an impact on an engineering issue that is important to you
  5. Please email your expression of eligibility and provide evidence of UK residency to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by Friday 6th February 2026
  6. Your eligibility will be reviewed to our Financial Awards Committee who will make a decision based on the information supplied.
  7. You’ll be notified of the decision within 10 working days of your application.
  8. You must have formally enrolled on to your programme at NMITE to receive the funds following an award of the funding.

If successful on receiving this award, you will be required to  provide an annual update on your progress and experience at NMITE which will be shared with Octopus Energy

The Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship (female only)

Overview

The Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship provides a total cash award of £5,000, distributed in four equal instalments of £1,250 at key progression points throughout your undergraduate degree programme at NMITE. This bursary is designed to recognise and support talented, motivated students who demonstrate strong academic progress and a clear commitment to completing the full three-year programme. If you choose to accept the funding, you will be asked to sign a Financial Award Agreement and agree to the general Financial Awards Terms and Conditions.

NMITE Care Experienced Bursary

The Care Experienced Bursary is available to students who can provide confirmation of their care-experienced status from their local authority.

Someone who is care experienced will have lived in public care or as a looked-after child at any stage of their life up to the age of 18. Including if you:

  • Are recognised by your Local Authority as a 'care leaver' or were in the past
  • Were adopted from care or left care with a Special Guardianship Order before the age of 18
  • Lived with foster carers or in a residential children's home
  • Have been looked after under a supervision order; or
  • Have lived with friends or relatives in formal kinship care under a Local Authority but are not currently recognised by your Local Authority as a care leaver in receipt of statutory support.

To be eligible, you must also:  

  • have accepted a formal offer on one of NMITE’s undergraduate programmes (either as firm or insurance choice if applying through UCAS)
  • enrol on your programme in September 2025
  • be aged 25 years or under at the start of the course.  

Please email your expression of eligibility for the Care Experienced Bursary to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by 5pm on 5th June  2025. Students are required to provide evidence of their care experienced status; this must be in the form of an original letter from your Local Authority outlining your care leaver status, or time living in care.  

The Bursary is worth £1000 per academic year of study (pro-rata), plus £1000 to help with start-up costs to a maximum of £4000 

Awards cannot be claimed retrospectively for previous academic years.  

The Bursary is paid in three instalments each academic year: normally September, January, and May.   

The funding will support one student through up to three years of study 

Students cannot receive more than one Care Leaver, Estranged student, and Refugee Bursary. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of these Bursaries, then it will be at the discretion of the Financial Awards Committee which Bursary you receive.

Welsh Student Bursary

Overview

If you’re a Welsh student applying for (or holding an offer to study) our Accelerated MEng programme, you could be eligible for a tuition fee credit to bridge the gap between the maximum Welsh tuition fee loan (£9,275) and our programme cost (£11,130) — that’s £1,855 covered for you each year of study.

Available to applicants with a Welsh postcode.

NMITE Estranged Student Bursary

This bursary is for new undergraduate students from the UK who are irreconcilably estranged from their parents. The Standalone definition states that: an Estranged Student is someone that has not had verbal or written contact with both of their biological, adoptive parents or their only living parent for a significant period of time and this will not change. A significant period of time is usually considered twelve months or longer, but this can also depend on their circumstances.  

To be eligible, you must also:  

  • be enrolled on either a degree level programme with or without Foundation year.
  • started your course here in the academic year 2026/27
  • be aged 25 years or under at the start of the course.  

Please email your expression of eligibility for the Estranged Student Bursary to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by 5pm on 26 June 2026.  Students are required to provide evidence of their estranged status; this must be in the form of an original letter by an independent person with good standing in the community (e.g. teacher from school/college or GP). This person should normally have known about their situation for a substantial amount of time and can verify that they do not have contact with their biological, adoptive, or only living parents.  

The Bursary is worth £1000 per academic year of study, plus £1000 to help with start-up costs; to a maximum of £4000 

The Bursary is paid in three instalments each academic year: normally September, January, and May.

The funding will support one student through up to three years of study 

Students cannot receive more than one Care Leaver, Estranged student, and Refugee Bursary. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of these Bursaries, then it will be at the discretion of the Financial Awards Committee which Bursary you receive.

NMITE Refugee Bursary

This bursary is for new undergraduate students who have Refugee status or Humanitarian Protection as defined below.  

The definition for those studying in England, as confirmed by UKCISA, states that eligible students with Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status: must be ordinarily resident in England on the first day of the first academic year of your course; and must have been recognised as a refugee or granted HP by the UK Government or be the spouse/civil partner/child of a person with that status, and have remained ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands since then.  

To be eligible, you must also:  

  • be enrolled on either a degree level programme with or without Foundation year.
  • started your course here in the academic year 2026/27
  • have a household income of £42,875 or below
  • not already hold an honours degree (or equivalent)  

Please email your expression of eligibility for the Estranged Student Bursary to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by 5pm on 26 June 2026.  Students are required to provide evidence of their refugee status; this must be in the form of an original letter/document, showing their Refugee or Humanitarian Protection status, from the Home Office/UK Government. Your household income will also need to be verified.  

The Bursary is worth £1000 per academic year of study, plus £1000 to help with start-up costs, to a maximum of £4000 

Awards cannot be claimed retrospectively for previous academic years.  

The Bursary is paid in three instalments each academic year: normally September, January, and May.  

The funding will support one student through up to three years of study 

Students cannot receive more than one Care Leaver, Estranged student, and Refugee Bursary. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of these Bursaries, then it will be at the discretion of the Financial Awards Committee which Bursary you receive.

NMITE Young Adult Carers Bursary

(This bursary can be awarded in addition to any other bursary you may be in receipt of).

This bursary is for new undergraduate students from the UK who are young adult carers.  

You are classed as a young adult carer if you are a carer between the ages of 18 and 25 who looks after a relative or friend, of any age, due to:  

  • disability
  • chronic or terminal illness
  • mental health problems
  • alcohol or drug addiction/dependency  

To be eligible, you must also:  

  • be enrolled on either a degree level programme with or without Foundation year.
  • started your course here in the academic year 2026/27
  • be aged 25 years or under at the start of the course  

Please email your expression of eligibility for the Young Adult Carers Bursary to bursaries@nmite.ac.uk by 5pm on 26 June 2026.  Students are required to provide evidence of their status as a young adult carer; This should be in the form of an original letter by a professional person (e.g. teacher/adviser from school/college, GP, social services, or local authority) who is not a family member or the cared for person. This person should normally have known about the situation for a substantial amount of time and can verify that the student has caring responsibilities and for whom they care.   

The Bursary is worth £500 per academic year of study.  

Awards cannot be claimed retrospectively for previous academic years.  

The Bursary is paid in one instalment normally at the mid-way point for each FHEQ level of study

The funding will support one student through up to three years of study 

Students cannot receive more than one Care Leaver, Estranged student, and Refugee Bursary. If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one of these Bursaries, then it will be at the discretion of the Financial Awards Committee which Bursary you receive.

NMITE Neuro-diversity Diagnosis Fund

The aim of the Neuro-diversity Diagnosis fund is to support neuro-diverse students who do not have the means to fund a diagnostic assessment to reach their full academic potential whilst studying at NMITE  

This fund is for students who do not have a formal diagnosis of a neuro-diverse condition but who believe they experience difficulties in their learning processes due to a cognitive condition.  

To be eligible, you must also:  

  • be enrolled on either a degree level programme with or without Foundation year.
  • started your course here in the academic year 2026/27
  • have completed an initial screening process either at previous education institution or self-assessed that indicates a neuro-diverse condition 

Students are required to meet with the Student Services Manager to request an eligibility check to access the Neuro-diversity Diagnosis Fund; they will need to provide evidence that they meet the eligibility criteria. In addition, a statement to explain perceived impact on learning experience; the student support team can assist with this statement if required.  

The NDDF will help with a formal diagnostic assessment to the maximum value of £1000.  

NMITE has identified professions qualified to carry out diagnostic assessments; payment will be made directly to the independent assessor identified.  

It is presumed by NMITE that if a student receives a positive diagnostic result that they will apply through the Student Loan Company for a Disabled Student assessment.  

Students can apply and receive support from this fund in addition to any other bursary they may have been awarded.

The Defence STEM Undergraduate Sponsorship (DSUS) scheme

Overview

The Defence STEM Undergraduate Sponsorship (DSUS) scheme on Gradcracker offers tuition fee coverage and a £5,000 annual bursary for STEM students, with a guaranteed job in the  RAF, Army or Navy and may be offered a permanent MOD job upon graduation. 

Key Aspects of the Defence STEM Undergraduate Scheme (DSUS):

  • Eligibility: Students studying relevant STEM degrees.
  • Benefits: Tuition fees covered + £5,000 yearly bursary (for up to 3 years).
  • University employment: opportunity to earn circa £3.5k for employment whilst at university
  • Post-Graduation: Guaranteed employment as an Engineer or Technical Officer in the RAF, Army, or Royal Navy and the opportunity for permanent employment within the Engineering profession in the MOD Civil Service.

Other UK Government and charitable trusts funding (UK students)

In addition to loans to assist with your fees, you may also be eligible for extra financial support. This support does not need to be paid back and is paid on top of your other student finance.  Please check the UK Government website fo the latest information.

UK Government funding

Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) 

If you have a disability, long-term health condition, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty (such as dyslexia) you may be eligible for the Disabled Students’ Allowance. This is for study-related requirements, such as access to specialist equipment, non-medical helpers, extra travel or other disability-related costs of studying. 

Childcare Grant

You may be eligible for a Childcare Grant to help with your childcare costs if you: are a full-time higher education student; have children under 15, or under 17 if they have special educational needs.  

Parents' Learning Allowance

You may be eligible for help with your learning costs if you’re a full-time student with children. This is called Parents’ Learning Allowance

Adult Dependants' Grant

If you’re a full-time student in higher education and an adult depends on you financially, you can apply for an Adult Dependants’ Grant. 

Funding from charitable trusts

Funding from charitable trusts may also be available. Use the Turn2us grant search to check whether you qualify.

    A little boost from us, to you. We set up NMITE Boost to help our students with the cost-of-living crisis. Through NMITE Boost you can receive free breakfast provisions every day, free monthly Sunday lunches, free period products, free shopping and more!
